Distill

Distill.io is an online tool that lets you select parts of a website that you’d like to monitor, and automatically alerts you when there’s a change. This has a wide array of uses; checking for price changes on e-commerce, tracking changes in the stock market, checking for new job listings, etc.

Our work with Distill started with reimagining the content and visual language of their website. While the tool is extremely powerful, it was also complex and alienated potential users who may not be as tech-savvy. We structured the communication to be simple and direct, in a way that would be easy to understand for anyone, supported with product animations to aid understanding. With the visual language, we took an approach that was fun and approachable, through a set of characters that metaphorically work “behind the scenes”, tracking the website for you.
